Condemns cane-charge on peacefully protesting youth seeking suspension of Sarora Toll Plaza

YNC activists protests against Smart Meters

JAMMU, AUG 24; Ajaz Jan, Provincial Youth President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), has strongly condemned the use of cane-charge against peaceful protesters who were demanding the suspension of the toll plaza situated at Sarora.Addressing a meeting of youth activists at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu, Jan expressed his deep concern over the incident and the underlying issues.

He said Sarora toll plaza has become a symbol of violation of toll plaza norms. He emphasized that its installation has sparked rightful protests among the people, as it goes against the principles and regulations that should govern such toll collection points.Jan voiced the genuine and justified demand of youth of Jammu region for the immediate removal of the Sarora toll plaza.

He highlighted the detrimental effects it has had on the already damaged national highway and stressed that the toll plaza’s removal is crucial for the overall well-being of the region.Pointing fingers at the current administration, Jan held them accountable for the myriad challenges faced by the youth of the Jammu region.

He stated that Jammu and Kashmir ranks among the highest in terms of unemployment and recruitment scams in the country, placing the blame squarely on the lack of effective policies and initiatives for the youth by the present government.

The senior NC leader raised serious concern over the faulty and inflated power bills that have emerged following the installation of Smart Meters in the Jammu region. He demanded immediate replacing of Smart meters with old meters.Jan firmly stated that only the National Conference has the vision and commitment to address the pressing issues confronted by the youth of the Jammu region.

He reassured the public that the party is dedicated to finding comprehensive solutions and advocating for the welfare of the people.Meanwhile, numerous youth from across the region enthusiastically joined the party fold.

The decision to join was largely motivated by the unwavering dedication of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, who have shown deep sincerity and commitment towards the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
