AKAM: DCPU Kulgam organises 3 days Sports Fest for children

DC Kulgam kick-starts the event

KULGAM, APRIL 24: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mission Vatsalaya, Kulgam today organised three days Children Sports Festival for children of Child Care Institutions of district Kulgam.

The three-day sports festival was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at Bait Ul Hilal Chawalgam, here.

On the first day, the children from Child Care Institutions of Kulgam district participated in various games including Tug of war, short race and other sports activities.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that sports activities have a significant impact on the social and mental development of children, adding that the games inculcate leadership qualities and imbibe the spirit of discipline.

Assistant Director, National Institute of Public Cooperation & Child Development, Ministry Of Women and Child Development, Govt of India, Sunil Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Mohammad Imran, District Child Protection Officer, Snobar Altaf and other officers and officials of concerned and allied departments also joined the inaugural ceremony.

It was informed during the festival that various sports activities including indoor and outdoor will be organised for children, for both boys and girls living in child care institutions of Kulgam.
