Amarrass Nights to host musical event on March 11
New Delhi, Mar 6 (PTI) Amarrass Nights will host singer-songwriter and guitar impresario Harpreet, Iraqi maqam and urban folk trio Radio Baghdad, and DJ Ravana for its March 11 musical event here.
It will be held at 5 pm at the Sunder Nursery Amphitheatre here, the organisers said on Monday in a release.
Harpreet is a versatile artiste, who sings original musical compositions in Hindi, as well as, in regional Indian languages and dialects such as Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese, Rajasthani and Haryanvi.
Harpreet has gained critical acclaim for his light classical style of singing. His creative talent fuses both the modern and traditional when composing tunes to his own lyrics and for classical poetry that he loves.
Radio Baghdad is a trio of musicians hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, and presents songs and melodies which date back to the early 20th century and before, in their authentic form, while employing a sound that bridges the gap between the traditional and the contemporary, reflecting the member’s different influences. Their shows tell a story that reaches across the Middle East and through time, to the present.
Ravana is a New Delhi-based music producer and DJ who creates eclectic collages of Spoken Word, Drum N Bass, Dub and other electronic genres. A frequent collaborator with Amarrass, and co-creator of the album ‘Dubfounded’ with Jumme Khan, his music is raw, gritty and with a thought provoking form that gradually invites the listener into a borderless experience.
Amarrass Nights, a platform to promote and nurture folk artistes, is organised by Gurgaon-based label Amarrass Records and Amarrass Society for Performing Arts at iconic locations across Delhi since 2009.
