Announcement of statehood, a promise by Govt. : Tara Chand

Jammu, Feb.08 : Former Dy. Chief Minister and Working President Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Tara Chand  demanded early announcement of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir as it was a genuine promise made by Hon’ble Prime Minister during assembly elections last year to the innocent   public of union territory.

Addressing a well attended monthly meeting in village Chack Malal of Chhamb Constituency, Tara chand said that the public of Jammu and Kashmir was betrayed by the party at helm of affair as they were asked to cast their precious votes and after elections their demand of restoration of statehood would be fulfilled but it is sorry to state that still public is waiting for statehood status after expiring of nearly 5 months. Tara Chand demanded that the daily wagers should immediately be regularized as with the new schemes about one lakh vacancies are there in different departments and public sector. Recalling the promises by parties now in power for supplying of 12 cylinders per family and 11 Kg ration to an individual are hanging in space.

Former Dy Chief Minister advocated for enhancement of honorarium to destitute, old age pensioners and handicapped as they are living in a very miserable conditions even hand to mouth. The exorbitant rates of essential goods compelled poor public to live without food  and job. He asked the Govt. to increase the funds under MGNREGA so that people living in rural and farflung areas can have job opportunity also.

Demanding permanent rights for the local allottees, Tara Chand said that villagers who are landless and BPL should be given ownership rights so that they can also produce the grains with full confidence and live prosperous life.

Others who also spoke in the meeting were S/Shri Madan Lal Sharma, Ex-Chairman Municipal Committee Khour, Ashok Sharma, Suraj Singh, Harnam Singh. Devinder Singh Bittu, Tarseem Singh, Gharu Ram, Ram Lal, Suraj Prakash, Sarfo Devi, Veena Devi, Avtar Singh Manhas and others.
