Annual Cultural and Literary Fest RESURGENCE 2024 inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University
JAMMU, 27 March 2024: The inaugural function of SMVDU’s cultural and literary fest Resurgence 2024 was a grand celebration of talent, culture, and academia, marked by esteemed guests and captivating performances. Dr. Kamni Pathania, Vice President of the Board of Cultural Activities, in her welcome address, extended a cordial welcome to all attendees emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and artistic expression in academic life. Professor Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU graced the occasion with his presence, delivering an insightful address. Prof. Kumar emphasized the integral role of
cultural activities in holistic education and the university’s commitment to fostering
creativity and innovation among its students.
The Chief Guest, Squadron Leader, Anil Sehgal, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the role of cultural activities in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering unity in diversity. Eminent Singer, Smt. Seema Sehgal, honored as the Guest of Honor, shared her insights on the power of music as a universal language that transcends boundaries. Dr. Shah Nawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer, JAKAACL graced the occasion as a Special Guest, emphasizing the significance of promoting cultural heritage in academic institutions. The event showcased the rich cultural tapestry of the region with a mesmerizing performance of the Geetru folk dance by Ram Ditta and party, sponsored by JAKAACL, captivating the audience with its rhythmic movements and vibrant costumes. Additionally, students from various departments enthralled the audience with their diverse cultural performances, showcasing their talents in music, dance, and theatre.
Resurgence 2024 also witnessed the Inter College Events which was an energetic
celebration of culture traditions and talent. GCW Udhampur, GDC Kathua, and SMVDU
students had a great competition in the folk dance competition, and then the amazing
battle of bands! An inter-college Hindi Debate Competition was also organized for
students under “Does Social Media Strengthen or Weaken Democracy”. RJ Chaitanya
from Radio Mirchi, Dr. Ruchi Shah, and Dr. Satish Tiwari judged the inter-college
competition. Dr. Rakesh Thusoo, President of the Board of Cultural Activities, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, performers, organizers, and sponsors for the event such as JAKAACL and Radio Mirchi for making the event a resounding success. He
emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing artistic talents and promoting
cultural exchange among students. The inaugural function concluded on a high note,
leaving a lasting impression on everyone present and setting the stage for a year filled
with cultural vibrancy and artistic excellence at SMVDU.
