ARTO Reasi conducts 2 day checking drive

REASI, March 3: Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Reasi Rajesh Gupta, along with his team conducted a two-day extensive checking drive on Katra-Jammu and Reasi-Dharmari-Thuroo routes.

ARTO stated that following complaints received from the general public regarding overcharging of Fare, overloading in these routes, MVD Reasi laid a special Naka.

He emphasized that the special focus is on installation of Speed Limit Devices, overloading as well as overcharging in passenger vehicles.

During the inspection, ARTO inquired from the passengers about the fare being charged. He also assured the public that strict action will be initiated against the violators as per the norms of the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the extensive checking, the team checked 150 Vehicles out of which 81 vehicles were challaned/Compound and recovered an amount of Rs 72500 as fine on spot.

ARTO sensitised drivers about how to maintain the proper documents of their vehicles and appealed to them to follow the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of others.
