Assam Police Monthly State Crime Conference held in Guwahati
Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 23 (ANI): Assam’s Monthly State Crime Conference was held on Tuesday morning in the State Police Headquarters in Guwahati, said a top police official.
There has been significant improvement in major parameters across various spectrums, including crime rate, disposal of cases, and conviction rate.
In a social media post on X, Assam Police DGP GP Singh wrote, “The Monthly State Crime Conference was held at @assampolice Hq Guwahati this morning. There has been significant improvement in major parameters across the spectrum. We remain committed to improve the criminal justice response mechanism in Assam. @CMOfficeAssam”
According to the shared data by the Assam DGP GP Singh, the crime rate per lakh population in Assam was 387.5 in 2019. It was 350.8 in 2020 while the number was 380.2 in 2021. The number significantly decreased and in 2022, it became 194.8 and in 2023 it was 183.1. For June 2024, it is projected to be 139.3.
Citing the data, GP Singh conveyed that the total number of cases registered in 2019 was 132877 while it was 121609 in 2020.
Highlighting the data for 2021, it was 133239 while in 2022 it was 68937. Significantly, it was decreased in 2023 and became 65395. Up to June 2024, it is projected to be 25,079.
Similarly, the number of convicted cases has also decreased and the disposal of cases has also decreased.
The meeting was held at the Conference Hall in the Assam Police Headquarters in Guwahati and was attended by several police officials.
