“Attempt to disturb upcoming polls in J&K,” says BJP candidate Thakur Randhir Singh on terror activities in region

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 29 (ANI): Thakur Randhir Singh who is BJP’s candidate from Kalakote-Sunderbani assembly constituency on Thursday termed the recent terrorist activities in the Rajouri as an attempt to disturb the upcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Polling will take place from the third week of September in Jammu and Kashmir, nearly after a decade.

Lashing out at Pakistan for fomenting trouble in J&K, the BJP candidate told ANI, “Such cowardly acts from Pakistan have always had the intention to disturb us. They caused trouble in J&K, our youths were killed and devoid of education.”

The BJP candidate claimed that today there is peace in Kashmir and people are going about their normal business, unlike in the past, marred by stone pelting and strikes.

“During militancy, there used to be frequent calls for shutdowns followed stone-pelting in Kashmir. Today, there is peace in Kashmir, and everyone is doing their work. Everyone talks about development, and not militancy, today. But Pakistan has continued with its actions. This is an attempt to disturb the upcoming elections,” he added.

A search operation is underway in the Rajouri district after an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces on August 28, officials said.

Singh expressed confidence that the people will vote in favour of BJP in Rajouri and Poonch areas.

The BJP leader added, “But I think people have made up their minds, they will participate in large numbers, and elect their desired candidates. I think people are going to make BJP victorious in Rajouri and Poonch areas…”
