BARAMULLA, MARCH 02:  An IEC/Awareness programme regarding ULPIN and LRIS (Aap Ki Zameen Aapki Nigrani) was today held at Meeting Hall of Additional Deputy Commissioner Office Sopore under the overall supervision of Regional Director Survey and Land Records (S&LR) North Kashmir, Khurshid Ahamd Shah in collaboration with Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore.

Besides Tehsildars of Sopore, Dangerpora, Watergam, Dangiwacha, Rohama and Zaingeer, a huge number of people including PRIs and Numberdars participated in the awareness camp.

While throwing light on the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP), the Regional Director S&LR North Kashmir apprised that under the said programme, the UT of J&K has achieved an important milestone to provide the most transparent and accountable services to the common people.

He further informed the audience that so far 5063982 documents have been scanned, 1047 Jamabandies stand digitised and 991487 parcels of Mussavis have also been digitised.

As a part of the programme now the ULPIN is being developed by the Government in order to construct an effective land information system, he added.

He further described that the goal of putting ULPIN in place was to improve the accessibility of land related information and the longitude and latitude coordinates of a land parcel are used to identify a land parcel for ULPIN. He said ULPIN also aids in the prevention of land related frauds, adding that after a piece of land gets its unique number or ULPIN, officials get access to all the data related to the land, which helps them provide genuine data to agricultural and other agencies.

On the occasion, Land Passbooks were distributed among the rightful landowners by the Regional Director S&LR North Kashmir, in presence of ADC Sopore, Tehsildar Sopore and other Tehsildars of Sopore sub-division.
