Awareness campaign organized across districts to combat Fall Armyworm threat
JAMMU, JUNE 06: An extensive awareness campaign was conducted since three to four days across various panchayats especially in Udhampur District to educate farmers on the management and control of Fall Armyworm (FAW), a significant agricultural pest. The campaign targeted key areas including Nalla Malian, Gordhi Jagir, Gordhi Khas, Kaghote, Amroh and Satyalta of Sub Division Ramnagar, District Udhampur.
Under the esteemed guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, and the diligent efforts of District and Sub Divisional Agriculture officers of Udhampur District, these awareness camps were meticulously organized.
The farmers actively participated and learnt about the management and control strategies against Fall Armyworm.
Technical Advisory has also being issued to all the Maize growing districts of Jammu Division from the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu for the remedial measures to control the insect-pest.
The combined expert team of Agriculture Department and SKUAST-J has been constituted to visit the infested areas of Udhampur and Reasi Districts to provide suggestions for corrective measures in these affected areas, thereby bolstering the fight against Fall Armyworm.
During the campaign, crucial resources such as PP chemicals and informative pamphlets were distributed among the farmers to aid them in implementing effective management practices against Fall Armyworm.
