Awareness Campaign under SVEEP held at Hermann Gmeiner School
JAMMU, JULY 25: An awareness camp was held at Hermann Gmeiner School, Gol Gujral, Jammu West Constituency-58, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign. The event aimed to promote voter registration among the voters, particularly focussing on the first time eligible youth voters.
The camp was organised by District Social Welfare Officer Mamta Rajput, who is also the Dedicated AERO (Assistant Electoral Registration Officer) for Jammu West-58 assembly constituency. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure maximum participation in the electoral process, aligning with the Election Commission of India’s objective to maintain updated and accurate electoral rolls.
The awareness camp at Hermann Gmeiner School saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff, who pledged to spread the message within their communities, ensuring a higher voter turnout in future elections.
During the event, Mamta Rajput emphasised the importance of registering in the electoral roll and participating in the democratic process. She highlighted the steps involved in voter registration and the significance of each vote in shaping the future governance of the region.
The SVEEP campaign’s activities include house-to-house surveys by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify eligible yet unregistered citizens, rectify errors, and update photographs in the electoral roll. These efforts are crucial, with a special summary revision of electoral rolls set to be conducted with July 1, 2024, as the qualifying date.
