Awareness camps on PCPNDT, MTP Act 2021 held at ANMT School, GMC Doda
DODA, JUNE 28: SANKALP-Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Doda organized a significant capacity-building camp on the PCPNDT Act (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act) and MTP Act (Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act) here in the ANMT School the other day.
Organised under the auspices of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, the camp aimed to empower and educate students on critical legislations and schemes pertaining to women’s welfare.
The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 145 students.
Addressing the audience, Gender Specialist, Humerah Balwan delivered comprehensive insights into the PCPNDT Act, emphasizing issues such as female foeticide and infanticide. She said the legislation aims to stop incidences of sex selective abortions and save the girl child from such social evils.
The staff also generated awareness about the women-centric schemes available for their uplift and empowerment of women. An emphasis was placed on skill development courses as a pathway to empowerment.
Participants were urged to actively combat sex-selective abortion. The Students were encouraged to be active members of society by playing a vital role in curbing the menace of sex selective abortion which would eventually help in maintaining Child Sex Ratio (CSR).

The event concluded with a collective pledge to safeguard the girl child and promote responsible citizenship.
Meanwhile, another camp was held today at GMC Hospital Doda’s ultrasound section. The staff members of several private diagnostic centers were part of an extensive capacity-building and training program.
