Awareness-cum-enrolment camp organized at GDC Ramban
RAMBAN, December 08: Government Degree College, Ramban in collaboration with District Election Department organised an awareness-cum-registration camp in the college premises to sensitize the students about the ongoing Special Summary Revision and on-the-spot enrollment of eligible voters.
As part of the SVEEP initiative, Deputy District Election Officer, Lal Chand and Resource person, Abdul Hamid along with other officials facilitated on-the-spot registration of eligible voters.
In her address, the college Principal, Prof Archana Kaul shared insights into the significance of voter registration and the impact of active participation in shaping the nation’s future. She made the students understand the importance of their votes while making them aware of their duties along with their rights as citizens of the country.
The Deputy District Election Officer, in his address, talked about the importance of being a registered Voter. He said that after recognizing the importance of engaging the youth in this democratic exercise, the SVEEP program has been strategically combined with an Enrollment Camp at GDC Ramban. The initiative aligns with the broader objective of empowering the youth to actively participate in the democratic process
Resource persons informed that the aim of the program was to sensitize students about the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) and directly facilitate the engagement and enrollment of eligible voters from the college community. The SSR of electoral rolls is an ongoing process crucial to maintaining an accurate and up-to-date voter list, they informed.
The SVEEP-Cum-Enrollment Camp featured informative sessions, and on-the-spot enrollment facilities for eligible candidates. By bringing the enrollment process directly to the college campus, the initiative aims to streamline the voter registration process, reduce barriers and facilitate registration for the students.
Samreen Choudhary and Hemani Sharma students of semester 5th and 3rd respectively, also spoke on the subject of voting and about the significance of the voters to facilitate the development and progress of the country.
Assistant Professor Vijay Kumar Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme and Dr. Sajad Ahmed presented a formal vote of thanks.
Later, a rally was also organized under SVEEP in the college.
Meanwhile, such SVEEP programmes were also organized at GHSS, Dhandrath and Ukhral to sensitize the prospective voters.
