Awareness–cum-voters enrolment drive organised in GDC Ukhral
RAMBAN, December 04: As part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2023, Government Degree College Ukhral, today organized an awareness-cum-enrolment drive under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme.
Principal of the GDC, Ukhral, Prof. Dr. Shallu Samyal, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
The objective of organising the event was to educate the prospective voters about the importance of voting and their role in the electoral process, besides highlighting the importance of voters’ participation in a democracy and educating the eligible voters about their registration in the electoral roll during the ongoing Special summary Revision.
It was informed that all the persons who have attained the age of 18 years on or before 1st January 2024 are eligible to enroll themselves as voters.
Prof. Zakir Hussain Naik, NSS, PO sensitized the students about the importance of adult franchise and right to vote. He encouraged the students to act as ambassadors to disseminate awareness of Special Enrolment Drive among others so that no eligible youth is left unregistered as voters.
Principal of the GDC, Ukhral, exhorted upon the youth to get them enrolled as voters during the ongoing Special Summary Revision and actively took part in the electoral process and to contribute to the developmental process of the country.
Later, students carried out the awareness drive in the premises of New Bus Stand Ukhral and sensitized the drivers, conductors and common masses about the voter’s enrollment drive.
Meanwhile, such awareness programmes were also organized at GHSS, Gool, Batote, Banihal and GHS, Alinbass to sensitize the prospective voters.
