Awareness/ Enrollment camp for PWD voters under SVEEP held at Handwara

KUPWARA, December 07: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, the Electoral Registration Officer (AC-05) Handwara today organized a mega Awareness-cum-Enrolment Camp, under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), for specially-abled persons at Environment Hall Handwara.

Tehsildar Handwara, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Handwara, District Election Trainer, Election Staff, besides, a large gathering of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) attended the programme.

The programme was aimed to enhance awareness, accessibility, and participation of Persons with Disabilities in the electoral process, ensuring inclusivity in the democratic framework.

The Election Trainer gave the awareness regarding NVSP, VOTER HELPLINE and other mediums of registration.

The Tehsildar Handwara in his address said that voting right is the most powerful weapon in the hands of people in a democracy. Government is providing special facilities to the specially-abled persons to exercise their right to vote. He appealed to the PWDs to come forward and get enrolled in the electoral rolls.

The District Election Trainer said that PWDs are part of our society and it is our duty to provide them with a conducive environment necessary for dignified polling experience. He also elaborated the AMF and other privileges available to PWD voters.

Various stakeholders including officials from Election Office, Social Welfare Department provided thorough awareness to the participants about the registration process under SSR-2023. They also highlighted the benefits of getting registered as a voter.

Meanwhile, Pamphlets regarding the registration process under SSR-2023 and Form-6 were also distributed among the participants.

Tehsildar Handwara also conducted a review meeting of BLOs of AC 05. The AERO directed all the BLOs to recheck and recombine their whole habitation and ensure that no voter is left unregistered in their jurisdiction.
