Awareness on Child Labour Act held at Kulgam

KULGAM, JUNE 12: On World Day against Child Labour, the Labour Department Kulgam today organized series of awareness sessions at various business establishments in district Kulgam.

Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kulgam, Dr. Adnan said these awareness sessions were carried out to raise awareness about child labour and business unit owners were sensitized about the Child Labour Act.

Stress was also given on the penalties for employment of children in violation of the provisions of this Act.

During these awareness programmes, special focus was laid on the employment of children who have not completed their 14 years in specified occupations and to regulate the conditions of work of children in employment where they are not prohibited from working.

Officers from department also visited several businesses units to check the implementation of the Child Labour Act.
