Awareness Program on protection of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace held in Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, JANUARY 27: An awareness programme on the protection of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace was today conducted at District Child Protection Office Kishtwar on the direction of Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav and under the supervision of District Child Protection Officer, Zubair Ahmed.
The officials of DCPU and One Stop Centre District participated.
Protection Officer (Institutional Care), DCPU Mission Vatsalya Kishtwar, Deepika Bhandari, explained to the participants about various aspects related to hearing and addressing complaints regarding sexual harassment and spreading awareness about gender-related issues and functioning of the “Internal Complaints Committee”.
She acquainted the employees with all the related terminologies, legal acts and rules, procedures for handling and disposing complaints etc.
Meanwhile, Legal cum Probationary Officer DCPU Mission Vatsalya Kishtwar, Basharat Nazir, said that woman empowerment was the need of the hour but safeguarding the dignity and honour of the women should also be accorded top priority.
The Probationary Officer said that the women must be provided with a congenial atmosphere at the workplace for which they must be made aware about their rights regarding protection from sexual harassment.
The purpose behind organising the awareness programme is to ensure that women are made aware of the laws like Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act and others, aimed at ensuring the equality for the women at the workplace, besides making them feel safe and secure, the Probationary Officer added.
Those who spoke and attended the programme included Touseef Iqbal Butt (PO NIC), DCPU Mission Vatsalya, Saima Kousar and Meenakshi Sharma (Social Workers) DCPU Mission Vatsalya Kishtwar, Ruchi Parihar (Office Assistant) OSC Kishtwar, Monika Sharma (Case Worker) OSC, Abida Banoo (Para Medical) OSC and others.
