Awareness Program on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace

KATHUA, March 28: CASH Committee, GDC Billawar in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Billawar organised an awareness program on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 under the under the patronage of Dr. Alka Sharma, Principal GDC Billawar. The main objective of this activity was to create awareness among the students especially girl students who are about to join the workforce after the completion of their degrees. 

The special guest from Tehsil Legal Services Committee Billawar, Adv. Honey Bali was the keynote speaker. She was accompanied by the PLVs. The keynote speaker started her address by providing the details about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013Act which is also known as the POSH Act. She also impressed upon the crime against women at their work places and talked about the provisions in the Constitution of India against such crimes especially the heinous crimes like ‘sexual harassment’ which affect the victims physically as well as mentally. She also states that since more and more women are becoming work oriented now, so this is the need of the hour to provide a conducive and safer place to the women at their work places. 

The proceedings of the program were carried out by Dr. Manu Sharma, Head, Department of English. The members of CASH committee with the other faculty members were also present during the program. More than 100 students attended this awareness program.
