Awareness programme held in Tia on strengthening school education & drug abuse prevention

A day-long awareness programme on ‘strengthening school education and drugs abuse prevention’ was organized by LBA Sham Education Committee in collaboration with Information Department Leh, Ladakh Police, Education Department and villagers of Tia at the community hall of Tia village today.  

Councillor Tia-Temisgam LAHDC Leh, Tashi Tundup, concerned officers/officials of Information Department, Ladakh Police, and Education Department, villagers headed by nambardars of Tia and Temisgam villages, Chairperson and members of LBA Sham Education Committee, parents and students of Tia-Temisgam villages were present during the awareness programme. 

During the programme, films made by Information Department on ‘drug and substance abuse’ titled, ‘Trapped’ and ‘Echoes of Redemption’ were screened. Speaking during the programme AE&CO Stanzin Wangmo stressed on the importance to make students aware about severe effects of substance abuse. She also spoke about the importance of seeking help from family, friends during stressful hours.

During the day-long programme, the Chairperson LBA Sham Education Committee, officers of Ladakh Police, Education Department, Dr Stanzin Sherab and concerned resource persons spoke on various issues related to education, drug abuse, and parenting.
