Awareness programme under SVEEP held at Anantnag
ANANTNAG, August 8: A one-day awareness programme under the banner of SVEEP was today organised by District Election office Anantnag at Auditorium of Government College for Women, Anantnag.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat presided over as chief guest and the Principal, Degree College for Women, Anantnag was guest of honour.
Huge number of new voters participated in the programme along with their teachers, besides Anganwadi workers and Asha workers.
The ADC in his address spoke about the democratic values to be developed among the students so as to increase the participation in the forthcoming elections.
He also felicitated the participants and the artists with mementos and the certificates besides distributing new voter cards (EPIC’s) among newly registered voters.
Deputy District Election officer, Anantnag, Nazia Hassan threw light on what actually the SVEEP is all about, she also spoke about the district profile with regard to the Municipal Summary Revisions going on in the district and Annual Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls with reference to January 2024.
Dr Arshad Ahmad Salroo, Coordinator SVEEP in his introductory speech talked about the SVEEP programmes going on in the district and explained about the history of SVEEP and connected it with the sustainable development goals, especially with the goal of social justice, peace and prosperity of the nation.
The participants including the students from different Higher Secondary Schools of Anantnag performed in different competitions viz. quiz, drama/skit, cultural programmes etc.
