Awareness programmes held across Kulgam to observe ‘Vigilance Awareness Day’
KULGAM, AUGUST 05: In connection with the celebration of ‘Vigilance Awareness Day’, awareness programmes were today held at different places in Kulgam.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) South Kashmir in collaboration with District Administration Kulgam organized a vigilance awareness programme at Government Degree College Kulgam.
The programme was attended by Principal GDC Kulgam, representatives of DVO Kulgam & other district officers and officials from various departments.
On the occasion measures being taken by the government to put an end to corruption, including switch over to e- Governance, disbursement of welfare benefits of various schemes of the Government in a transparent manner through the DBT initiative, implementation of e-tendering in public procurement, simplification of procedure and other measures were highlighted.
Officers/officials from ACB said that the objective of the programme is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity and the threat posed by the corruption.
Officers and resource persons from ACB & Assistant professors/students of GDC Kulgam also deliberated on various Acts and added that the focus areas of the awareness day is to spread greater awareness to general masses as well as local committees, NGO’s etc to encourage complainants under Public Interest Disclosure and protection of Informers and conduct a unique clearance campaign to get rid from corruption.
Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj Kulgam also organized a programme on Vigilance Awareness at BHQ Kulgam as a day of resolution for freedom from corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, ACD and ACP Kulgam highlighted the hazards of corruption and its catastrophic effects. The participants were urged to remain honest, sincere and dedicated in their official duties. It was said that public servants need to work hard to sustain and further improve the public trust on the Administrative set-up.
