Awareness Session on Menstrual Hygiene organized by CLUJ

JAMMU, May 22: Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), organized  an awareness session on Menstrual Hygiene and sanitary Napkin Distribution Drive in collaboration with FICCI FLO JKL and Nine Foundation under the patronage of Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, CLUJ. Ms. Varuna Anand,  the Chairperson and Ms. Ruchika Gupta,  the Vice-Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL gave an overview of the organization and the purpose of the drive. 

   Mr. Atul Gupta from Nine Foundation addressed the gathering and made them aware of the importance of such initiatives for the female students. Dr. Shivika Gupta, Gynecologist, Dr. Palki Sharma, Skin Specialist and Mrs. Kanupriya Garg, certified Ayurvedic Nutritionist and Yoga Instructors were the resource persons for the event. Dr. Shivika Gupta emphasised on the menstrual hygiene which is to be maintained by every woman during the cycle. Dr. Palki Sharma highlighted the skin and facial changes that occur due to hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle of a woman. Mrs. Kanupriya Garg practically showed various beneficial yoga exercises to the students which helps to maintain a healthy menstrual cycle. Sanitary Napkins were distributed to all the female students by the Nine Foundation. 

Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal, SPMR College of Commerce  was the Special Guest at the event.  He elaborated on the importance of Menstrual Hygiene and added that events like this will help in spreading awareness among the female students which will ultimately help in building a in his address highlighted the need and importance of Menstrual Hygiene  and   appreciated the efforts of The FICCI and Nine Foundation for making the students aware of varied issues associated with Menstrual Hygiene vis-a-vis  various taboos associated with it.

About 150 students from PG schools and Constituent Colleges of CLUJ participated in event that was followed by an interactive session. The programme was attended by Cultural Coordinators, Associate and Assistant Deans, and NSS Programme Officers and faculty. The students of Cultural Council were instrumental in organizing the event. Prof. Apfan Ali compared the proceedings of the event.
