Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: DC Shopian flags-off 3 Reefer vehicles
Dedicates them for long distance transport of fruits/ vegetables
SHOPIAN, February 21: To give impetus to better post harvest management in the district, 3 Reefer vehicles were today flagged-off by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya from Mini-Secretariat, here.
The big insulated vehicles Vans with a capacity of 15 Metric Tons each shall be used for long distance transport of the fruits and vegetables by the farmers of the district.
The Reefer Vans have been provided to the orchardists/ farmers with the aim to prevent post harvest losses of fruits and vegetables and to keep the fruits garden fresh for marketing.
The Reefer Vans have been provided under Scheme MIDH with a subsidy component of 15 lac per van and financed under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund with an interest subvention of 3%. the assistance shall be provided by NHB of Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers welfare.
Horticulture is the mainstay of the economy of J&K and the Government is committed to create enough infrastructure which includes providing necessary refrigeration for hassle free and cost effective transport facility, said DC on the occasion.
He said, this upgrade in the horticulture sector of the district and other such Infrastructural facilities shall be provided henceforth as well to give a boost to the horticulture sector of the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Yar Ali Khan; Joint Director Planning, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Bodha; Chief Horticulture Officer, Mohammad Ramzan War; Chief Agriculture Officer, Farooq Ahmed, horticulturists, and other concerned were present on the occasion.
