Babila Rakwal reviews working of Cooperative department

SRINAGAR, JUNE 24: Secretary, Cooperative Department Babila Rakwal today chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review the progress of the various issues of the cooperative department.


She took appraisal of the interventions and schemes in Cooperative Sector including the progress achieved in establishing Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).


Secretary emphasized the need for a cohesive network among the operational PACS, and urged for a strategic approach towards rationalizing PACS memberships. The vision is for PACS to evolve into dynamic multipurpose entities, working in harmony with other government departments and institutions to deliver comprehensive services, she maintained.


Babila Rakwal also reviewed the functioning of Cooperative Banks, Cooperative Training & Educational Institutions, Societies and Cooperative Super Bazars, Banking and Finance sectors.


During the meeting progress under Capex Budget 2024 (Physical & Financial) was also discussed and the details of new works to be taken during 2024-25 were also thoroughly discussed.


The meeting also discussed the registration of FPOs against target and their status was also reviewed.


Secretary said the dedication, determination, faith and collective efforts of cooperatives will pave the way to prosperity.


During the meeting, status of the implementation of “Establishment of Food Processing Units” also came up for discussion and directions were passed on to the concerned in this regard.


Detailed discussions were held on the directions issued by the Lieutenant Governor during the review meeting held last month and specific instructions were passed on to the concerned officers to ensure their timely compliance.
