Bandipora Admin seeks public support to eradicate drug menace
ADC stressed on parental counseling; urges parents to monitor activities of children
BANDIPORA, February 28: The District Administration Bandipora on Tuesday sought public support to eradicate drug menace from the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Waseem Raja said the people and administration are on the same page in the battle against drug abuse and hoped that together, they would be able to win the battle.
He was chairing a meeting of the District Level Committee under Narco- coordination Center (NCORD) and COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco products Prohibition Act).
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said the drug menace is a threat to every household as it can knock on any door anytime. He said the constant parental control is important to check activities of children so that early detection can help to put the spark off before it burns the house.
He said that Religious Leaders and PRIs also have an important role in curbing drug menace and urged them to propagate ill effects of drug addiction among youth.
Waseem Raja asked the concerned officers to coordinate with PRIs, NGOs, and civil society while carrying out their campaign to curb drug menace.
He stressed intensive awareness among the masses to make them aware regarding drug abuse.
The officer also mentioned the importance of the De-Addiction treatment facility for enabling those involved in drugs to return to normal life.
He also emphasized on all concerned stakeholders to work in close coordination to make Bandipora a drug free district.
The meeting was attended by DIO Bandipora Jahangeer Akhoon, MS District Hospital Bandipora, Tehsildars and Police officials of Bandipora, Officials of Education department, SDPO Bandipora, Range Officer Forest and other concerned officers.
