Baramulla police arrest drug peddler, 2.5 kgs of contraband recovered

In a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized a sizeable quantity of contraband substances from his possession.

A police party from Wagoora Police Post, headed by the In-charge Police Post, established a checkpoint at Takiya Wagoora. During routine checks, they intercepted a man acting suspiciously, who was identified as Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Singhbagh in Takiya Wagoora, Baramulla.

Upon further investigation and a search, the police party reportedly recovered 2.5 kilograms of a substance suspected to be poppy straw from him.

He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody at Kreeri Police Station. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law, and investigations are currently underway.
