Behavioural change important towards judicious use of water: Div Com
Institution of Engineers (India) Jammu observes World Water Day
JAMMU, MARCH 22: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today attended an event on the occasion of World Water Day with theme “Water for Peace”.
The event was organized by the Institution of Engineers (India) Jammu Local Chapter and attended by Engineers from various Departments, organizations and senior engineers along with members of the committee of IEI, Jammu local centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner appreciated the IEI, Jammu for organizing the significant event on the occasion of World Water Day where many engineers presented their papers on the theme “Water for Peace”.
The Div Com highlighted the significance of saving and conservation of water. He called for the need of behavioural change towards judicious use of water and taking small steps leading to bigger impact in saving water like storing rain water, avoiding excess use of water wherever possible.
Emphasizing the importance of water, the Div Com said that shortage of water can threaten the existence of a whole civilization while as saving water can safeguard the existence of living beings.
The Div Com lauded the role of the Institution for its unwavering commitment towards the goal of spreading awareness on water conservation and making all endeavours towards sensitizing the society at large in J&K towards larger goal of sustainable development.
During the seminar, various speakers presented their papers highlighting the need to save water for peaceful co-existence.
Hamesh Manchanda, Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, Jammu and Prof. (Dr.) Bhawna Sharma, Chairman, IEI Jammu Centre, Er. Sachin Tickoo, Honorary Secretary, IEI Jammu, Er. Sachin Tickoo, MIE, Honorary Secretary were present.
