Bhalla resents delay in issuing roll number slips and information about exam centres for CUET-2023 J&K students
JAMMU, May 25:Hundreds of students have been left in a state of despair after the National Testing Agency (NTA) fails to designate their examination centres for Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-2023 when the examination is tomorrow. This was stated by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla reacting over delay in issuing roll numbers and exam venue even just one day before examination. He said this decision has left students, especially those from impoverished backgrounds in a state of distress, saying they cannot afford the travel expenses to each at exam centres.
Delaying roll number slips and information about exam centres has caused significant disruption and added burden on these ambitious students, who were already overburdened with the challenges of preparing for the highly competitive entrance test, added Bhalla.”The majority of these candidates hail from financially disadvantaged families, where covering the costs of traveling becomes an obstacle,” he said.He said students had given their preference for an exam centre within J&K but were left in a state of shock after they came to know their exam centre was allotted outside Jammu and Kashmir. This forced aspirants and their concerned parents to protest.Demanding a prompt resolution to this issue, the aggrieved parents had passionately appealed for the immediate relocation of their children’s exam centers to Kashmir and then LG Administration wake up from slumber.Bhalla said that these aspiring students have been diligently preparing for the CUET and deserve fair and equitable treatment in the examination process.
He urged the concerned authorities, particularly NTA, to address exam centres issues and rectify the exam center allocation, enabling the students to take the CUET properly.Around 80000 students have applied for the CUET exam from J&K.LG houd take up the matter with NTA and see what can be done in this regard,” he said. Students from J&K appearing in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) are dismayed over the mess in allotment of their exam centres which has resulted in serious inconvenience. These issues are real for students and such inconvenience ahead of exams spoils the spirit,” Bhalla said. The students had trusted the examination authority to assign exam centres based on their preferred cities, but instead, they were allocated centres outside the UT of J&K,” he said. He argued that all students deserve equal opportunities to compete in the entrance test and access to education irrespective of their financial circumstances. The examination centres in J&K can be easily increased, as we have the capacity. This is absolute apathy towards aspirants who have been allotted examination centres in Haryana and Punjab. The travel and boarding costs are beyond the reach of the majority,” he said.He also urged the authorities to intervene in the issue that has caused distress to hundreds of students across the union territory.
