Jammu, January 15, 2023:- PCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Mulla Ram, Rajnish Sharma, Kanta Baan, Hari Singh Chib, Uday Bhanu Chib, Vijay Sharma Babbi today flagged off the Bharat Joda Yatra rally which started from Shakti Nagar and culminated at Talab Tillo.
The rally was organized by senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Narinder Gupta, Sanjeev Panda, Satish Sharma, Rittu Choudhary, Satish Sharma, Ajay Lankhotra, Ramankant Khajuria, Sandeep Dogra, Arti Gupta, Uttam Singh, Balbir Kumar, Rajiv Saraf, Rajinder Singh Bagi, Vinay Malhotra, Pawan Dev Singh, Pawan Sharma, Kewal Yogi, Yash Pal, Chander Sheikhar Sharma, Atul Sharma, Varinder Manhas, Kesar Singh, Vijay Khajuria,Pardeep Bhalla beside others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said Bharat Jodo Yatra has become a big movement in the country. The mass movement started by party leader Rahul Gandhi intends to spread the spirit of love, unity and harmony and its effects can be seen within the party as well.
He said that the BJP and Modi government are scared of the popularity of the Bharat Jodo Yatra being led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that the party workers are fully geared for it and that the J&K unit will spare no effort to ensure that apart from the party leaders and workers, the common people can join it.
He claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was unifying the people across the country defying divisive politics by the BJP in the form of communal lines. He said Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is historic in many ways, as it is not only posing a challenge for the BJP but in various other ways. He said that after walking with Rahul Gandhi for a few kilometres, he felt a surge in energy and wanted to go on.
He said Rahul Gandhi’s 155-day long foot march covering 3500-km, 25 to 30 km daily on average, would create a world record, as it was a historic feat, never before attempted by anyone else. He said the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is not a political yatra, but a campaign to unite the people of the country.
Bhalla said the nation was fed up with the vote-bank politics of BJP and its minions, as their only agenda was to divide the people to make gains in electoral politics, while Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was to mend the rekindle the broken spirits and sagging morale of the people, due to the suppression of democratic values and the Opposition, who raise its voice when people in power try to crush the voice for a reason.
Bhalla said that the Congress has a history of fighting back from setbacks, and under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Congress staged a tremendous comeback, when the Congress-led UPA Government was in power at the Centre for 10 years, there was a time when Congress was in power in 19 States. And by walking the whole way, Rahul has drawn on a very Indian theme: the leader who walks among his people. This is not the sort of leader who lands by helicopter after thousands of policemen have secured the area. His speeches seem to come from the heart and are devoid of any agenda, there are no elections in most of these states so he is not there to simply win votes. When I see footage of Rahul Gandhi walking in the rain or stopping to speak to the people who line the streets, I feel like saluting him.
Mulla Ram speaking on the occasion said that growing participation in the Yatra reflects the love and affection of the people for former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. “The BJP targeting the Bharat Jodo Yatra is a clear indication that the Yatra is a big success and it is troubling them very much. He said that the BJP is so much rattled by the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and that it is desperately trying to derail it and defame Rahul Gandhi.
He also cited several instances of BJP’s “fake claims” made with an attempt to defame Gandhi and his Yatra, and demanded that the ruling party should apologise. All these untruths created about him have been “demolished and proved baseless”, he said, adding that Gandhi’s reality is now visible to the people. He said price rise and unemployment were the two main common issues that came up in feedback from people during the Yatra. He said the issue of protecting federalism was also raised and the sentiment was that the Centre is not doing justice.
Manmohan Singh speaking on the occasion said that Rahul Gandhi is meeting children, the elderly, farmers, ex-servicemen, youths and women and listening to them. He is working towards finding a solution to their problems, he said. “This is not a political yatra, but a campaign to connect the country and to unite people,” he said. As unemployment, inflation and hatred have left the country broken, despondent and fragmented, it needs a revolution to ignite minds and join hearts that have been battered with divisiveness, vitriol, and shattered dreams of ‘Utopia’. he said,” “Bharat Jodo Yatra is bringing about a silent revolution that will change the political landscape.”The Yatra has been getting a lot of praise and getting support from actors too. It’s obvious the BJP is feeling the heat. After all, let’s not forget the recent embarrassing defeat in Himachal Pradesh.
