He also asserted that “untruths” spread about Rahul Gandhi to malign his image have been “demolished” by the Yatra and his ”reality” has come to the fore before the country. “When it started, there were a lot of questions about whether people would come or not or whether we will be able to cover 25 km every day. The last 60 days have passed in a jiffy now,” he said.“Yatris have gone beyond physical pain. Yatra has achieved its first objective and people know that it is being undertaken to highlight their issues, he said. The yatra has achieved its first objective. Yatris have become comfortable with the yatra, the yatra has become comfortable with the country and the country has become comfortable with yatra,” said Bhalla.
Seeking mass support for Bharat Jodo Yatra from people of Nagrota, Bhalla said, “Don’t consider yourself alone, the Congress is your voice, and you are Congress’ strength. We have to fight with every decree of the dictator, every attempt to suppress the voice of the people.” “For you, the Congress party and myself have been fighting, and will continue to fight. You know very well which issues need to be discussed in the country today because every wrong policy of the government is affecting your life,” he said. Today’s reality is that the common person is struggling not just for his dreams but for his daily bread, he alleged. Former Minister urged people of J&K to support Congress to fight together against the “wrong” policies of the BJP-led Union government. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed the worst due to the wrong policies adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at New Delhi.
While addressing the gathering, Bhalla said that Congress Party will defeat the designs of anti-peace forces vitiating atmosphere to serve their vested interests. He said Congress Party will remain committed to defeat the designs of communal forces and committed to safeguard the age old tradition of unity, diversity and communal harmony in J&K.He said that performance of BJP Government in the last 8 years has been poor on all fronts. Inflation has skyrocketed, because of which the lives of the common man have been seriously impacted and unemployment rate is the highest in 45 years. He observed that the LG Administration has failed on all fronts and the BJP is insensitive towards the problems of the youth. There is resentment among people and the youths are angry, he added.Appealing to people not to get swayed by “false propaganda” of the BJP and reject “divisive, wrong and anti-people policies” of the BJP, he assured that his party would continue to work for the well-being of the people, despite the “concocted and false propaganda” unleashed by the BJP against it.
.Urging people to reject the “politics of hate”, Bhalla stressed that the Congress is the “guarantee” for development, peace and growth of common masses. In an apparent reference to bifurcation of the erstwhile state into union territories, the Congress leader said the people of Jammu and Kashmir would never forget as to how BJP “victimized and punished” them under the garb of development, besides snatching their just rights in order to fulfill its agenda, based on “lies and deceit”. Bhalla said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were fed up with the “bluffs and failures” of the BJP Government and are suffering on all counts. He alleged that the BJP had gained power after “betrayal of the mandate” and its experiments cost too much to the people of J&K who lost their identity as a State besides all safeguards to their land and jobs.”He said that Congress party is the only unifying force which would fight for the rights of the people of the UT and appealed people to support Congress to expose BJP Government and protect the policies and programmes which were initiated by the Congress for the welfare of the pluralistic, poor and downtrodden sections of the society.
Yogesh Sawhney, former Minister speaking on the occasion appealed the people of different shades of the society to come under the umbrella of Congress party in order to strengthen the social and secular fabric of the UT and ensure the overall development of each and every sections of the society. He asserted that BJP Govt is punishing people under the garb of inflation and many other wrong policies have thrust upon the them citing different reasons, which have no basis. Centre Govt has failed on every count, betrayed people on account of inflation, unemployment and lack of development and various other issues confronting people. Sawhney said the matter of the fact remains that BJP Govt is doing everything for electoral gains only, so people need to realize their emotions and sufferings have no meaning for BJP Govt, they must rise to occasion to give befitting reply to it (BJP) in coming times, which is the only way to register anger and protest against the Centre’s anti- people policies. “These policies will continue to remain a big source behind the disappointment and anguish among the people, “he said.
Thakur Hari Singh in his address said that unemployment is at its peak, inflation has pushed people to further backwardness, developmental scenario has received severe setbacks, besides absence of popular Govt in J&K has disconnected people completely while adding woes to them.BJP Govt is talking about democratic rights of people, but J&K is exception, where democracy has been uprooted and people left at the mercy of Bureaucracy. Centre Govt must take effective measures to restore democratic rights in J&K instead of debating or making tall claims on democracy which doesn’t suit given their attitude towards J&K, Singh added. He alleged that the government will not be able to see inflation as it is wearing the “blindfolds of arrogance” and selling the country’s property in “free fund” to friends.
