“Bharatiya Janata Party has already secured a majority,” says BJP leader Jairam Thakur
Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and leader of the opposition in the state, Jairam Thakur, expressed confidence in a public meeting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already secured a majority in the last phases. He urged the people of Himachal Pradesh to help the party exceed 400 seats.
During a rally, Thakur stated, “This election is about choosing the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already achieved a majority in the five-phase elections. Now, with your support, we aim to surpass the target of 400 seats.”
He also emphasized that a strong government can make quicker decisions and appealed to people to give their support on four out of four seats of Himachal Pradesh, to form a stronger government.
Praising the BJP government’s accomplishments, Thakur said, “From the construction of the Ram Mandir to the abrogation of Article 370, the elimination of Triple Talaq, and the implementation of one-third women’s reservation, the BJP government has resolved long-standing issues. We have witnessed the foundation and consecration of the Ram temple, and by giving a ticket to Kangana, we have already implemented the reservation act in Himachal.”
Criticizing Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s government in Himachal Pradesh, the former CM remarked, “This government is anti-employee. Their issues remain unresolved, and they face harassment. The contract period, previously reduced to two years, has now been extended to three years, due to the bureaucratic delays. Healthcare centres are closed, youth are losing jobs, and pensioners’ medical bills are not being paid on time. In the upcoming days, the people of the state will give answers to the Congress.”
Thakur also highlighted the achievements of the former BJP government in the state, stating that they implemented the Pay Commission’s recommendations on time, paid dues including dearness allowance regularly, and reduced the contract period from three years to two years.
Appealing to the residents of Mandi, the former CM said to vote for Kangana in large numbers and make her win so that Narendra Modi’s chariot of development can be strengthened and keep moving in the forward direction.
Polling in all four seats in Himachal is scheduled for June 1. It will not only pit candidates vying for Lok Sabha membership from four seats but also elect members for six assembly seats that fell vacant following the resignation and switchover of dissident Congress lawmakers.
The BJP, which won all four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state in the 2019 elections, is eyeing an encore this time.
