Bihar: Mos Nityanand Rai meets with NDRF personnel as flooding disrupts Araria
Patna (Bihar) [India], September 29 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, held a meeting with the personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday following the flood-like situation in the Araria district of Bihar.
Due to incessant and heavy rains in the Terai region of Nepal, the water levels in the rivers in the district have been increasing rapidly, causing a flood-like situation in the area.
Following the flood-like situation, all trains going from Jogbani to Katihar were cancelled till further orders. All trains will now be operating from Forbesganj railway station.
The rivers Praman, Nuna, Lohandra, Bakra, Ratua and Sursar, which flow through the district, are in spate and the water levels of these rivers are also continuously increasing.
Water has entered the low-lying areas of many villages, including Bagwan village in the Bathnaha Panchayat of the Forbesganj assembly constituency, as well as Raht Mina in Kursakanta and the Gram Panchayats of Saurgaon, Tamkuda, and Palasmani.
Due to the flooding, residents from the affected areas have migrated to safer locations. In Bagwan village, located in the Forbesganj assembly constituency, villagers were forced to leave their homes and seek higher ground for safety.
