BJP betrayed farmers: Raghbir Singh Manhas
JAMMU August 12th: A one-day convention of the Block Mandal in Marh Assembly Constituency District Jammu Rural A of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference was held under the leadership of Block President Bishan Dass Bhagat at Mandal. The convention saw the participation of all delegates and prominent workers of the Block, organized by Man Mohan, Block Mandal Organizer. The participants raised several issues of public importance, particularly concerning farmers.
Addressing the convention, Th. Raghbir Singh Manhas, District President of Jammu Rural A, alleged that the BJP’s double-engine government has utterly failed to fulfill its promises made to farmers. He criticized the BJP for betraying farmers by promising to double their income by 2022. He pointed out that it is now 2024, and instead of seeing an increase in their income, the cost of production for farmers has doubled, with no new avenues available for them to sell their produce.
Manhas emphasized that the National Conference is committed to the welfare of farmers and will implement a mechanism to ensure adequate compensation for crop damage. Currently, farmers face significant challenges in obtaining compensation for damaged crops, as the Kisan Bima Yojana scheme has failed. He accused insurance companies, banks, and the BJP of conspiring against farmers.
Other senior NC leaders who spoke included Rakesh Sharma, District President Jammu Rural A YNC; Yaku, District President OBC Cell Jammu Rural A; Capt. Joginder, District Vice President Jammu Rural A; Kuldeep Sharma, senior leader; Tilak Raj, District Secretary; Vikas Choudhary, Youth President; Gulshan Kumar, OBC President; Baru Ram, Sarpanch; Kajru Raj, Lamberdar; Kuldeep Sharma, and Pt.
