BJP exhorts upon first-time voters to enroll themselves

With a view to encouraging and sensitizing first time voters for registration as voters and participating in democratic processes, BJP leaders addressed a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

Priya Sethi (former Minister), BJP NEM & Headquarter Incharge and Ranbir Singh Pathania (former MLA), BJP Spokesperson addressed the media persons on the occasion.

J&K BJP Media Incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Election Management Department Incharge Parduman Singh and SEM Shailja Gupta were also present on the occasion. 

Priya Sethi elaborated on ‘Voter Chetna Mahaabhiyaan” launched by party on national level with a view to sensitizing, motivating and facilitating first time voters. She said that BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the nationwide Voter Chetna Mahabhiyaan to ensure that every eligible person gets register as a voter and participate in the MahaYagya of Democracy. J&K BJP President, Ravinder Raina launched the Mahaabhiyaan in the Union Territory while asking every BJP activist to assist the masses to get them registered or get their details modified to the latest, she added.

Sethi added that the party workers will put all their efforts to immediately get all eligible voters included in the new voter revision. She said that the BJP workers at the ground level will also be actively involved in the meticulous cross-checking of the voter lists so that all discrepancies/loose gaps could be effectively plugged out. She said that free and fair elections is the very bedrock of democracy and BJP is committed to it. It is the duty of all of us that we ensure that all eligible people are able to vote in a most free and fair environment and in line with the mandate of the law of land. We all need to act as harbingers of the new change in J&K. We also need to act on a mission mode and educate the people about basic rights as well as responsibilities of voters.

Ranbir Singh Pathania underscored upon the need and the necessity of the first time voters to get themselves enrolled. He said that all those voters who have attained 18 yrs of age on first of October 2023 should immediately get themselves enrolled with their concerned BLO or ERO or AEROs. The applications can be sent physically or can also be made online also. The two proofs which are required, one is age proof another is address proof. The law remains that a person can be enrolled at a place where he is ‘ordinarily residing’. He called for positive cooperation from the election staff.

He said that the BJP will hold workshops at district as well as Vidhan Sabha level with a view to sensitising and aware their party cadres to participate and co-ordinate in this Herculean move. He said about the golden quote of PM Modi ‘The power of vote is the biggest power in the democracy’ vote is the most effective tool to bring positive changes in the lives of millions of people. The voters amplify the collective voice, diverse perspective and promote inclusivity in decision making. On one side they hold leaders accountable for governance of transparency and accountability while on the other side they reflect the societal needs and aspirations for sustainable development.

Form-06 is the form where new voters can be enrolled, form-07 is the form whereby deletion or objections and form-08 is the exact patform whereby the corrections as well as marking of people with disabilities can be done. Whereas, 25th and 26th is a mega mahotsav whereby new voters shall be made this has been enlisted by BJP as ‘vishesh sampark abhiyan’. The BLOs, booth presidents as well as BLA2s of BJP shall ensure that they are able to conduct a door to door survey of their respective areas before 25th and 26th maximum voters are enrolled for the purpose BJP has organised state level team, district level teams, Lok Sabha level and Vidhan Sabha level teams with a view to further fine tuning and enabling the empowerment of people.

And that Yuva Morcha of BJP will also organize workshops and Vidhan Sabha level sammelans inviting discussion and open dialogues on electoral awareness, voter registration and democratic responsibility, Pathania said.
