Urges Mahila Morcha to ensure participation of women in upcoming polls in J&K

JAMMU, APRIL 01: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today asserted that women have a great role to play in the nation building as the Bharatiya Janata Party believes in women empowerment and is the front runner in bringing them to the forefront in every field including politics.

The senior BJP leader expressed while addressing a monthly meeting of BJP Mahila Morcha at Party Headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The meeting chaired by Kavinder Gupta was convened to discuss the upcoming programmes of the party especially its women wing with special focus on party’s weeklong Foundation Day celebrations from 6th April to 14th April.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that women constitute more than 50 percent population of this nation and play a key role in every field. So far as the functioning of Bharatiya Janata Party is concerned the women in its Mahila Morcha Wing will be playing a vital role in the upcoming polls be it the Urban Local Bodies, Panchayat or the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. He urged the Mahila Morcha members to reach out to women in every nook and corner of the Union Territory at the grass roots level and ensure their cent percent participation in all the upcoming polls. He said that the real empowerment of women begins from proactive participation in exercising the right to franchise.

The former Dy Chief Minister said that BJP stands fully committed to the empowerment of women and in this direction the Union Govt has launched a number of schemes specially tailored for women and these have proved quite fruitful especially in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it is a matter of great pride that out of one crore self help group beneficiaries of Central Govt schemes across the country four women SHGs from J&K are among the top 10 performers. He said that this proves the optimum performance of the J&K BJP Mahila Morcha team. He said that the Mahila Morcha deserves full appreciation for excellently disseminating the schemes and programmes of the Central Govt at the grass roots level.

Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta detailed the Morcha members about the upcoming Pakhwada in connection with Party’s Foundation Day celebrations. He said that as part of the programme, Mahila Morcha leaders will visit OBC and SC community members and have lunch with the community members on 10th April.

During the meeting Sanjita Dogra, President BJP Mahila Morcha J&K briefed the participants about the functioning of the Mahila Morcha Unit and the schedule of upcoming programmes to be organized in the coming days. She assured the former Dy CM that the Mahila Morcha will proactively participate in the party’s Foundation Day celebrations and that members of Mahila Morcha wing will leave no stone unturned in ensuring BJP’s success in all the upcoming polls.

Prominent among those who were present include Updesh Andotra, Neha Mahajan, Reema Padha, Neeru Anand, Suman Raina, Ritika Trehan, Anu Gupta, Vaishno Devi, Kunti Jasrotia, Neena Gupta, Anuradha Sharma, Meenkshi and Kamla.
