BJP Govt brought immense miseries to border dwellers by making hollow promises: Rattan Lal Gupta

Seeks filling of all posts lying vacant in different Govt departments 

RS PURA , February 25 : J&K National Conference today accused the BJP Government of bringing immense miseries to the people residing on border areas by making hollow promises and doing nothing on ground.

Addressing a public meeting at Village Bagha Jana at border town RS Pura, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, Jammu, JKNC said that the Central Government/ UT govt  have failed to fulfill the promises made with the border dwellers and the condition has become worse due to hollow policies of the BJP led government at the Centre/ UT. He said that the people here mostly belong to farming class and depend wholly on power to satiate their irrigation needs but those sitting at helm have seldom taken care leading to this emergent situation where power cuts are the new norms and damage to transformers is a daily affair besides low lying power cables threatening lives of people and even livestock.

Rattan Lal said that the farmers have been the worst sufferers under the PM Modi’s regime. He said that the farmers are facing a hell of complex problems including the huge shortage of seeds/ fertilizer. He also sought activation of tube-wells claiming that there is draught like situation as canals stand closed and farmers are suffering in absence of water availability. He slammed the government for withdrawing almost all subsidies to the farmer community. 

The senior NC leader further criticized the governments at the Centre and in J&K for ignoring the youth of border belt. He accused LG Administration of adopting a discriminatory approach towards the border youth with no employment policy or any kind of development project. He said that the Central/UT government promised to raise the Border Battalion but as usual the corrupt government has cancelled the results of 2 Border Battalions of Jammu and Kashmir Police Border Battalion terming an example of government’s apathy. He said that finding their future bleak, these unemployed youth are passing through a phase of utter frustration and despair. 

The Provincial President anguished over the incumbent government for its failure to fill the Sanctioned vacant posts lying in different government departments of Jammu and Kashmir. He sought protection of government jobs for locals in Jammu and Kashmir, saying unemployment had alarmingly grown manifold during the recent years. The government jobs must be reserved for local youth only as the state has only limited avenues of employment.

 Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary NC, while speaking on the occasion, asserted that National Conference is the only secular political party in J&K and it is the only solution to end the miseries of the people thrust by the BJP Government.

Vijay Lochan, Provincial President SC Cell of National Conference, in his address, castigated the government for announcing 5th Phase of Back to Village programme, terming it as a futile exercise. He said government is wasting crores of rupees from the tax-payers’ money on the so much hyped ‘Back to Village Programme’ running. He said that all the previous four phases have miserably failed to produce any substantial result. There is no outcome of the so called outreach programme is visible on ground despite the tall claims made by the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at the Centre and the J&K Administration.

Naresh Bittu, District President Jammu Rural B, JKNC, apprised the senior functionaries of the Party about the problems being faced by the people of border areas due to non-availability of basic amenities. He raised serious concern over deplorable condition of health centre as the same is lacking adequate medical infrastructure and equipments necessary for medical check-up due to which the people have forced to visit Jammu for getting medical treatments.
