Dharamkund, Ramban, 30th April 2025: A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma today visited the cloudburst-affected areas of Dharamkund in Ramban district to assess the ground situation and ongoing relief efforts. Yudhvir Sethi, Vice-President & MLA, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, General Secretary & MLA, Vibodh Gupta, General Secretary, Neelam Langeh, District President, BJP’s DDC, & Ex. BDCs, and other senior leaders of party accompanied the BJP President on the occasion.

The visit comes in the aftermath of a severe cloudburst and flash floods that caused extensive damage to life, property, and infrastructure in the region. During the visit, Sat Sharma interacted with affected families and local residents to understand their immediate concerns and long-term needs.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma expressed deep concern over the scale of destruction and stated that while administrative efforts are ongoing, the damage to normal living conditions is unprecedented. “The suffering of the people is immense. While government officials and public representatives have made efforts, more support is urgently needed,” he said.

Sharma shared that the BJP earlier constituted a committee under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, which is already overseeing and facilitating the relief operations.

The BJP President has requested the release of substantial financial assistance from both the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) through the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He also confirmed communication with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for best possible relief efforts.

Yudhvir Sethi emphasized the importance of immediate repair and reconstruction of damaged roads and houses. “Our activists are on the ground, working tirelessly to support those in distress. BJP stands firmly with the people of Ramban in this hour of crisis,” he said.

Dr. Devinder Manyal said that the party has appealed to business organizations and civil society in Jammu to extend aid and support to the affected families.

Vibodh Gupta reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to bring normalcy back to the region at the earliest.

Neelam Langeh said that all the BJP activists were tirelessly engaged in providing the relief and rehabilitation measures for the distressed and will continue to do so.
