BJP OBC Morcha thanks union govt for introducing the bill granting OBC status to their community in J&K
JAMMU 28, July: BJP OBC Morcha Jammu & Kashmir thanked the union government for introducing the bill to grant OBC status to OBC Samaj of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sunil Prajapati, State President BJP OBC Morcha, while addressing media at BJP Office Jammu lauded the change in nomenclature to Other Backward Classes (OBC) in place of “Weak and under Privileged Classes (Social Caste) by the GoI by amending J&K Reservation Act 2004.
Welcoming the decision of the union govt to amend the J&K Reservation Act 2004, through J&K Reservation Bill 2023 in the Parliament, Prajapati expressed great pleasure that now OBC category people in J&K will get great relief as all benefits connected to reservation under OBC Category will be available for OBCs in J&K UT; such as:-
Only a single OBC certificate will be required to be obtained for the J&K UT as well as the Central Govt Jobs and other schemes. Now all aspirants of NEET from the OBC Category will get the reservation as entitled to the category.
Many OBCs will get the relief who were otherwise denied reservation in J&K UT under the Social Caste category, for which income from all sources including from agricultural land was clubbed and calculated towards the annual Income of the family.
He said now OBC people will also get reservations in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (Municipalities) elections, as available under the provisions of Article 243 D(6) and Article 243 T(6) respectively. Accordingly, appropriate representations from the OBC category in both regions will be elected in the Panchayats, Municipalities, and DDC elections, which was otherwise not applicable under the “Social Caste” category.
Under the OBC category, the reservation may be enhanced keeping in view the population of OBC castes as included in the OBC Category. Further, with the inclusion of 14 more castes in the OBC Category including the Jat Community and West Pakistani Refugees, the percentage of reservation may be enhanced as per the population of the OBCs after including the population of all the newly added castes/communities, which will be worked out by the J&K UT Govt while amending the J&K Reservation Rules 2005, in accordance with the amendment incorporated in J&K Reservation Act 2004, the Union of India through J&K Reservation Bill 2023.
