BJP Village Defense Guard Cell hold meeting at Jhiri
JAMMU February 17: Jammu and Kashmir BJP Village Defense Guard (VDG) held meeting at Jhiri in Akhnoor Assembly constituency and was attended by local VDG members in large numbers.
Former MLAs Rajeev Sharma and Krishan Lal, senior leader Munish Sharma, Convenor VDG Cell Basant Raj Thakur, VDG Co-Convenor Ramesh Katoch were the prominent leaders, who addressed this meeting.
Rajeev Sharma Ex- MLA and Akhnoor district President, said that the VDG’s are discharging their duties like strong force and their contribution has been splendid.
Krishan Lal Ex- MLA, spoke on the services rendered by VDG’s in remote and far-flung areas and added that their task is no less than the security forces.
Munish Sharma applauded the role of VDG’s and said that their genuine demands should be fulfilled at the earliest.
Basant Raj Thakur said that the issue of transferring of gun to the next in the family after the demise or retirement of the serving VDG members, is very well in our notice and is being taken up at the appropriate plate forms and expressed hope that the matter would be considered sympathetically. He also discussed the issue of the unpaid VDG’s and said that the same is also taken up regularly with the concerned authorities.
Ramesh Katoch said that the presence of VDG’s has induced a sense of security among the minorities in areas of Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Ramban,Rajouri, Poonch, Bani, Basohli and they have even sacrificed their lives in anti-insurgency operations.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included BJP Mahila Morcha spokesperson Pooja Grover,BJP Akhnoor Mandal President Swaran Singh, Khour Mandal President Manga Ram, Capt. Shoba Ram, Raj Kumar and others.
