BJP’s 10-year rule brought nothing but disappointment to people of J&K: Rattan Lal

Calls BJP’s Manifesto a Copy of National Conference’s Vision, urges people to support INDIA Alliance in Upcoming Assembly Polls

JAMMU September, 7th : Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for betrayal public’s trust by not fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade. He asserted that despite ruling the country for 10 years, the BJP has done nothing remarkable for J&K, apart from stripping away the rights of its citizens, most notably through the abrogation of Article 370.

Speaking at the joining programme held at Sher e Kashmir Bhawan Jammu , The Joining Programme was organized by Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone and Sunil Sharma, Rattan Lal Gupta said that the BJP has miserably failed to stand on the expectations of the people of J&K. Instead of delivering on its promises, it has only taken away the special status that J&K enjoyed under the Indian Constitution. The abrogation of Article 370, division of J&K into two parts Ladakh and J &K, snacting of Statehood of J&K into ut   was a direct attack on the dignity and identity of the people of this region, he added.

Referring to the recently launched BJP manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls in J&K, Rattan Lal Gupta accused the saffron party of misleading the public yet again. He pointed out that the manifesto lacks any fresh ideas or initiatives for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and instead, appears to have copied key elements from the vision and promises laid out by the National Conference.

Rattan Lal Gupta pointed out the glaring contradictions between the BJP’s manifesto and its track record in J&K. He questioned why the BJP is now promising Rs 18,000 per year under the ‘Maa Samman Yojana’ to the eldest women in families when, in the last decade, not a single such initiative was implemented. “If this scheme was so essential, why was it not introduced earlier? The BJP’s neglect of senior citizens, women, and marginalized communities is evident, and now they are scrambling to make false promises to win votes.”

On the issue of employment, he accused the BJP of gross mismanagement, noting that despite a significant number of vacant posts, no efforts have been made to fill them. Still the BJP is assuring to create employment opportunities for youth. “Thousands of posts remain vacant in various departments, but instead of providing opportunities for our youth, the BJP has allowed them to languish in uncertainty and they youth of J&K have become the victim of one after one recruitment scams.”

Rattan Lal Gupta also criticized the BJP for its failure to provide free LPG cylinders to the people of J&K, despite similar promises being made in the past. “Amit Shah talks about giving two free cylinders per year, but the harsh reality is that many families can’t even afford a single cylinder due to skyrocketing prices.”

He further called out the BJP government for its failure to improve education and provide adequate support to students, despite new promises of Rs 3,000 per year under the Pragati Shiksha Yojana. “Our students have been deprived of quality education due to closure of hundreds of schools across the Jammu   and Kashmir J&K and employment opportunities for years. The BJP’s sudden interest in providing travel allowances is nothing but an election gimmick.”

Rattan Lal Gupta raised serious concerns over the BJP’s inability to tackle terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, despite its repeated claims of bringing peace to the region. “Amit Shah has repeatedly promised the eradication of terrorism, but the ground reality is different. Terrorism is not only present in Kashmir but has started rising in Jammu as well. The BJP’s hollow promises of peace and security have failed, and the people of J&K continue to live in fear.”

The Provincial President called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to not be misled by the false promises of the BJP and instead rally behind the INDIA Alliance in the upcoming Assembly polls. “The BJP’s 10-year rule has brought nothing but disappointment for the people of this region. It’s time for a change. The INDIA Alliance is committed to restoring the dignity, rights, and development of Jammu and Kashmir. I urge everyone to stand with us for a better and brighter future for our people,” he said.

Rattan Lal Gupta reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and restoring the special status of the region. He expressed confidence that the INDIA Alliance would work diligently towards fulfilling the true aspirations of the people and ensuring a prosperous future for J&K.
