BJP’s Dilip Ghosh slams TMC after suspension of 2 student leaders
Paschim Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], September 29 (ANI): BJP leader Dilip Ghosh took a swipe at the Trinamool Congress following the suspension of two leaders of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) the student wing of the Mamata Banerjee led TMC.
The suspended leaders, Prantik Chakraborty and Rajanya Halder were accused of anti-party activities on Friday.
Ghosh on Saturday said, “If you are in TMC and oppose its policy to be with the truth, that’s not possible. TMC has taken action against all those who have supported the agitation against the RG Kar incident.”
He then underlined the importance of continuing the movement, referring to the doctors’ protests, which the BJP leader claims will keep the state government in check. However, Ghosh also accused the incumbent TMC government of trying to erase evidence in order to protect those guilty.
“The way discussions are going on about this movement, whoever has supported the movement (RG Kar protests) within their party, TMC has made ‘arrangements’ against it” Ghosh claimed.
When asked if the surgical students’ strike should continue, Ghosh responded, “Not a strike, but a mass movement (Andolan) should be organised.” He added, “If the government deletes evidence and protects those who are guilty, then a movement should be organised that leaves the government breathless.”
According to him, there is a lack of security for doctors in West Bengal, leading to unsafe working conditions. “Attacking doctors is a fashion for some people; after it becomes news, it stops for some time,” he said.
The BJP leader also pointed out that previous strikes by junior doctors had not yielded any results. He stated that “there is no guarantee of security for anyone anywhere in Bengal.”
In an official statement on Friday, Trinankur Bhattachaiyee, President of the West Bengal Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, announced the suspension of its two youth wing leaders.
The WBTCP stated, “West Bengal Trinamool Chhatra Parishad hereby suspends Prantik Chakraborty from the post of Vice-President… and Rajanya Halder from the post of Vice-President of Jadavpur-Diamond Harbour District Trinamool Chhatra Parishad for anti-party activities with immediate effect.”
The suspension will remain until a decision is made by the disciplinary committee, the WBTCP added.
