Block Diwas held at remote Panchayat Halqa Raithan in Block Khansahab

BUDGAM, March 01: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired the Block Diwas programme at remote Panchayat Halqa Raithan in Block Khansahab.

The programme was held at Government Middle School, where PRIs, respected elders and local youth delegations from villages Raithan, Vatred, Kichwari, Kaitch and other adjacent villages raised their demands with the DC.

The DC gave them patient hearing and assured all their genuine demands shall be addressed on priority.

At the outset, the DC said that besides overall development of people, self-employment and cleanliness are among top priorities for District Administration in Budgam.

He urged local unemployed youth to register under different self- employment schemes to open their own business ventures and become successful entrepreneurs. In order to ensure better public service delivery, the DC said that a joint awareness camp shall be conducted at Raithan on March- 06, for generation of awareness regarding different schemes among locals.

He said concerned departments shall facilitate distribution of seed varieties and form submission for various services to the general public.

Emphasizing on providing better road, transport, educational and health facilities, the DC also directed concerned to completion of ongoing works in a time bound manner.

He instructed PDD authorities to ensure execution of improvement works and installation of poles and shifting of lines from School premises on war footing.

To ensure better sports facilities to youth, the DC stressed that work on the playground be expedited for its timely completion.

He urged locals to play an active role in curbing the drug menace from the society for a better society and safeguard the young generation, the DC appealed elders to ensure tight vigil that their wards remain away from drugs or any other social evil.

The DC also took assessment of road development, drainage network and facilities related to drinking water, Sheep and Animal husbandry, Agriculture and other allied sectors being provided to locals by concerned offices.

He directed concerned to expedite work on development of road projects from Raithan- Kichwari and construction of other interior road networks including drainage and protection walls.

Among others, ADDC Budgam, Dr Akramullah Tak; SDM Khansahab, Syed Ahmad Kataria; CEO, Xen PDD, Irrigation, ARTO, BDO, Tehsildar, DSHO and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
