Calls for change in mindset, complete switch-over to online mode for eradication of corruption
DODA, SEPTEMBER 06: Block Diwas programmes were held today at various places in Doda district at which officers from civil administration heard the issues of the public for on the spot redressal of grievances and to ensure good governance at people’s doorsteps.
The government functionaries also imparted awareness to the public about the use of online/ digital services and Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K campaign to seek people’s support in bringing good governance for better development and prosperity in the district.
The main event was held at Dakbunglow Bhaderwah, which was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Vishesh Mahajan. The Block Diwas at Dakbunglow Bhaderwah was also graced by the presence of SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom.
BDC Chairperson Bhaderwah, Omi Chand; DDC Member Chowkibal, Thakur Yudhvir; ADC Bhaderwah, Ch Dil Mir; ACD Doda, Phulail Singh; ACP, Ashfaq khanji; District and sectoral Officers, besides, PRIs and people in large number attended the day long block diwas programme.
The DDC, in his address, said that the aim of holding weekly block diwas is to hear the people at their door steps and address their developmental issues and grievances and to provide them awareness about different welfare schemes of the Government.
Referring to the role of PRIs and the general public, the DDC said that the administrative machinery, PRIs, and common man have to work together to ensure successful implementation of the schemes on ground. He said that behavioural change in the common man is crucial in combating and eradicating corruption from the system and the society. He reiterated that the use of online services by the citizens is imperative for the elimination of corruption and nurturing confidence of common people on transparent governance.
Responding to the issues projected by the locals, the DDC issued instructions to the concerned authorities for appropriate action and early redressal of the genuine demands.
The DDC responded to various issues of the area put forth by the PRIs and general public one by one. The major demands raised included early completion of Katyara-Kansar Road, Construction of Indoor stadium in Bhaderwah, Reopening and upgrading of Nalthi Tourism Park, meeting Shortage of Staff in HSS Sartingal, UPS Nichla Thara-Gatha, UPS Nalthi and other such schools, Upgradation of Schools, Delay in the PMAY instalments, Requirement of Electric Poles in Hanga Panchayat, Non availability of material in some panchayats of Bhaderwah block under MGNREGA, Additional class rooms and toilet facility in UPS Gatha, NTPHC Sartingal approved work be started before winter, Upgradation/ Black topping of essential roads and other such issues.
Block Diwas was also held at Panchayat Inhara, Block Changa, Sub Division Gandoh; Block Headquarter Assar, Sub Division Assar; and Panchayat Ghar Puneja, Tehsil Chiralla, Sub Division Thathri, chaired by SDM Gandoh, SDM Assar and SDM Thathri respectively. PRIs and public participated enthusiastically in the block diwas programmes, put forth their local/ common and individual issues, and got most of their demands redressed on the spot. Other issues requiring consent/ deliberations of the higher authorities have been forwarded to the concerned for timely redressal.
