Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, while garnering support of the people for the upcoming political contest, maintained that only NC has the will and capacity to ensure women empowerment as other political outfits rely on rhetoric rather than implementing change on ground. He said that opponents of NC are solely relying on communal politics and divisive mindset thus making it imperative for the people of J&K to reject this trajectory and strengthen NC for all the good things for which this party has always remained at the forefront. He said that NC has a track record of taking all communities together creating bonhomie whereas its opponents are trying hard to disturb the social fabric for political gains without giving a thought to the repercussions of this dangerous maneuvering.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President J&K NC Jammu, in his address, asserted that women have a significant role to play in shaping the better and peaceful future of Jammu and Kashmir and as such women cannot be ignored in any way.
He said that the present governance is marked by widening gender disparity in the region besides rising unemployment, development deficit and deepening uncertainty having affected everyone in the region. However, women are the worst sufferers amongst them as the prevailing political or social issues have had a devastating effect on their dignity and lives in J&K. Lauding the women for their marvelous role despite all odds, he urged them to continue their relentless fight for their rights.
The Provincial President said that along with the restoration of democracy, the struggle for the return of special privileges can be fought only when the National Conference is strong for which women have a crucial role to play.
The Provincial President also asserted farmers’ plights especially with regard to lack of irrigation facilities, border dwellers woes, poor healthcare edifice and phlegmatic attitude towards world famous Gharana wetland are the few examples of startling indifference of the government which call for change in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls as those elected last time have shown utter disregard towards people’s concerns.
Rattan Lal asserted that National Conference is the sole guarantor of J&K’s interests and for this it is necessary to remain present among the people, enquire about their problems and solving them.
Bimla Luthra former MLA and State Vice President Women wing also hit out at the government for undermining the aspirations of the people, she categorically raised the issue of the government abandoning the hapless widows and Old aged persons of the region by stopping their pension. She said that NC is moving steadfastly in the direction for winning all the Lok Sabha seats in J&K as no other political entity can stand against this people-friendly political party when merit is the consideration.
The senior NC leaders urged the party cadre to gear up their activities in view of upcoming polls and ensure victory of Party in all the Lok Sabha seats in the impending political battles in the Union Territory.
