Bovines smuggling bid foiled in Rajouri; 20 animals rescued, 5 accused held
RAJOURI, 14 June 2023: Police have arrested five persons and rescued twenty bovines being smuggled on Tuesday.
Police informed that in the intervening night, 3 bovine smuggling bids have been foiled by police in Thanamandi wherein 3 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02BJ 7312, JK11B 6286 and JK11E 7174 carrying 17 bovine animals were intercepted.
The vehicles were seized and all animals were rescued and 4 persons have been arrested who were identified as Mohd Rafiq resident of Sialsue Kalakote, Mohammad Shafi, resident of Balli Kalakote, Shahnawaz Ahmed, resident of Panihad Kaotranka and Nazir Hussain, resident of Fatehpur while 2 accused managed to flee taking benefit of darkness however their car Wagon-R JK11G 0980 which was being used as guide them was also seized.
Similarly, 3 bovines have been rescued by police team of Chingus police post.
These animals were smuggled by foot when police team intercepted them and rescued the animals while smuggler Mohammad Bashir resident of Muradpur has been arrested.
