BSNL & Indian Army illuminates Ladakh and border areas with 4G Towers on Diwali
The BSNL in collaboration with Leh Signallers are installing a number of 4G mobile towers to ensure illumination of the Border Areas and vibrant villages with ubiquitous cellular coverage. The task was irrefutably daunting, and a race against time to deliver results within the narrow working season. Leading the spadework was General Manager Telecom of BSNL, Leh, Mr Hariom Solanki and his team with close support and proactive participation from the Indian Army, who worked relentlessly to undertake the installation of new mobile towers under 4G Saturation, USOF Scheme exclusively for Armed Forces and upgradation of existing 2G/3G towers to 4G in the remote villages connecting local populace of Ladakh and Indian Army standing rock solid defending the country.
In the last three months, there has been an upgradation of approximately 2000 SIMs from 2G/3G to 4G and increased sale of more than 9000 new 4G SIMs. It is also noteworthy that BSNL Leh has given the first M2M connection (to Polaris Meter Reading Company) in the entire Jammu and Kashmir circle, apart from this, connection for automatic weather station has also been given to University of Ladakh. The BSNL Leh is playing a leading role in the field of fiber, connecting remote areas of Ladakh like Nubra. Kargil & Leh to the mainstream, and extending interact connectivity under the Vidya Mitra scheme with . the lowest tariff.
The BSNL team and the Army Signallers worked very closely on war-footing in the campaigning season starting from June this year, overcoming prohibitive logistical challenges, obtaining requisite clearances and marshalling the resources within. the framework wherein the Army played a very crucial part to plan, cooperate, synergise and extend support throughout the installation process. With the combined efforts by Leh Signiallers, and BSNL, supported by civil administration of UT of Ladakh. BSNL has achieved remarkable milestone by installing an unprecedented 50 new 4G mobile towers and upgrading 100 existing towers in a record time providing 4G connectivity to forward Areas exclusively for brave soldiers safeguarding the nation and extending coverage to remote villages for local populace bridging the digital divide. On the eve of Diwali, a total of 04 new towers and 16 upgraded towers will illuminate the forward areas with 4G exclusively installed and dedicated to our brave soldiers facilitating them to connect with their families and friends.
The mobile towers will not only ensure mobile communication for the frontline forces but will also facilitate the local community by improving access to online education. remote healthcare and fostering economic opportunities through govt schemes and digital transformation.
