Central University of Jammu Hosts “The Seventh Shiksha Shastraarth” on School Education in Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu, 23 August 2024: The Department of Educational Studies at Central University of Jammu (CUJ) successfully organized its seventh edition of “Shiksha Shastraarth,” focusing on ‘The Present Scenario of School Education in Jammu & Kashmir.’ The event featured engaging discussions and valuable insights from esteemed guests, enriching both students and faculty alike.

The program commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Asit Mantry, Head of the Department, who expressed his gratitude to the guests and encouraged students to actively engage and draw inspiration from the discussions.

Sh. Kewal Kishan, Chief Education Officer of Samba District, graced the occasion as the chief guest. His address shed light on the current state of school education in the Samba District, emphasizing the importance of inclusive and vocational education. He highlighted various initiatives and schemes aimed at improving educational outcomes, stressing the significance of girls’ education and the prevailing literacy rates.

Ms. Ekshu Sharma, JKAS, Assistant Director Handicrafts Samba shared her personal experiences and motivational insights with the attendees. She emphasized the value of perseverance and dedication in achieving success and encouraged students to participate in the upcoming elections for a genuine democratic expression. As part of the event, an activity was conducted to promote voter participation under the SVEEP drive, which resonated well with the enthusiastic student audience.

During the interactive session, students showcased their curiosity and engagement. Ms. Monika Sharma, a Research Scholar at CUJ, inquired about inclusive education, while Ms. Jagriti Gupta, an Integrated B.A. B.Ed. student, sought details about vocational subjects introduced under NEP-2020. Their questions prompted a thought-provoking discussion, reflecting the depth of interest and concern among the students.

The event was concluded by Prof. J.N. Baliya, who delivered honorary remarks and expressed his appreciation to the guests for their valuable contributions. Tokens of appreciation were presented to the distinguished guests as a gesture of gratitude.

The program was a resounding success, facilitated by the combined efforts of students and faculty members. Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean of Students Welfare, extended her warm wishes, and Dr. Kiran, Dr. Aman, Dr. Mohan Galgotra, and Dr. Yadram were also present, contributing to the event’s success.
