Central University of Jammu, Organises webinar on NEP-2020

JAMMU, September 1, 2023: Department of Economics, Central University of Jammu, organized a webinar focusing on the National Educational Policy NEP-2020. Dr Amrendra Pani, Joint Director and currently the Director (in charge) at Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi was the Keynote  Speaker and spoke on “Transforming Research Ecosystem in Higher Education: A perspective of New Education Policy 2020”.

Dr Pani, covered the genesis of the NEP 2020 and underscored how it can take the Indian knowledge system forward given a right priority to research. Underlining the evolution of university education globally, he referred to how Indian Universities are undergoing changes to achieve the much needed objectives, and the support that is being provided by the AIU.

During his address he pointed out what currently ails Indian research and how NEP- 2020 makes an attempt to make research responsible, relevant, and people friendly while being at the forefront of learning. He discussed the regional imbalance that is observed in India and India’s contribution to the global pool of research.

Dr Amrendra, stressed the importance of allocation of more funds for social science research and dwelt on the National Research Foundation (NRF) that is going to provide new life to research. He was optimistic about the outcome of the NEP 2020 that is intended to make research in Indian universities more proactive and incisive.

The webinar is an outcome of consistent initiative by the Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu, Prof. Sanjeev Jain on research, dissemination and skill enhancement among the students. He appreciated the initiatives taken by the Department of Economics and encouraged the Department to hold more events of this nature for the students’ overall development.

Professor Aswini Kumar Nanda, Head, Department of Economics welcomed the Keynote speaker Dr Amrendra Pani, moderator Professor Asit Mantry, participating faculty as well as students. The webinar was moderated by Professor Asit Mantry, Head, Department of Educational Studies. Dr Shaveta Kohli, outlined the overview of the webinar whereas. Ms Ananya, Research Scholar proposed the vote of thanks. The seminar was widely attended by the students and scholars of the Department of Economics and the Department of Education.
