Central University of Jammu Starts Short Term Upskilling Programs for Women
JAMMU, March 16: School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu launched Short Term Upskilling Training Program for Women candidates at multiple locations across Jammu Division under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Mission Directorate, Department of Skill Development, J&K.
Number of Job oriented courses are being offered by the University including Social Media Executive, Community Journalist, Yoga and Wellness, Digital Marketing, Soft Skills and Personality Development, Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Program, Multipurpose Associate and Hospitality Trainee etc. In this series course on Social Media Executive was formally inaugurated at Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu in presence of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal, Project Team Members comprising of Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq & Dr. Neelika Arora from School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu.
Prof. Meeru Abrol in her welcome address appreciated the efforts of faculty members from School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu under the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain in carrying out outreach activities in collaborative mode. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Meeru Abrol impressed upon the participants to take the maximum benefits from the leading faculty members from Central University of Jammu and other institutions of excellence. She highlighted that NEP-2020 envisions that skill courses to be made available to students enrolled in all Bachelor’s Degree Programs irrespective of disciplines.
Prof. Jaya Bhasin in her address apprised the audience about the importance of Skilling, Upskilling, Reskilling and New Skilling for women in making them self-reliant. In her address she observed that for economic empowerment of women in today’s changing job market is of paramount importance for bringing a change in society. Introducing the trainers for the Programme Dr. Asif Ali and Mr. N. Chibber. She pointed out that both trainers for the short training programme have significant corporate experience and focus would be on hands-on training.
Dr. Neelika Arora in her address pointed out that capacity building on latest technological developments is the need of hour. She highlighted the vision of Project Team in empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir through these outreach skilling initiatives. She also pointed out that Project Team members are ready for hand-holding and supporting your entrepreneurial ventures by providing necessary mentorship and in establishing market linkages.
Dr. Shahid Mushtaq briefed the participants about the course and also highlighted the importance of upskilling Programs for women to ensure sustainable income and employment opportunities. He stressed on the need for changing the mindset from Job seeking behaviour to Job creation as opportunities in Govt. sectors are shrinking as well as new types of Jobs are created because of technological advancements. He further pointed out that the United Nations theme on ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress to celebrate international women day is appropriate for an egalitarian society and Viksit Bharat@2047 as envisaged by Hon’ble Prime Minister of Narendra Modi.
It is pertinent to mention here that Short Term Upskilling programmes are started at multiple locations and different Job oriented courses are in progress. Dr. Asif Ali and Mr. Naman Chibber, Resource Persons conducted the sessions. The entire programme was coordinated by Project Team members and faculty members from college including Dr. Pavanjeet Bali, Dr. Preeti Salathia
Dr. Preeti Salathia proposed a formal vote of thanks and students from the college conducted the proceedings of the program.
