Central University of Jammu Students Raise Voter Awareness through Nukkad Natak
Jammu, September 14: The Department of Educational Studies, in collaboration with the office of the Dean Student’s Welfare (DSW), Central University of Jammu, organized a Nukkad Natak– ‘Loktantra ka Vishwas Vote se Hi Vikash’, with a powerful message on the importance of voting and making an informed choice during elections.
The street play performed by the students of Department of Educational Studies at the Malviya Shiksha Bhawan as well as the main building of the university campus, aimed to spread awareness among students and the larger community about their civic duty and the significance of responsible voting.
The theme of the drama was voting awareness, and the students portrayed a variety of individuals who neglect to execute their fundamental civic duty. Through their different acts yet hilarious play, they channelized the significant influence of the first-time voting on the students. The students presented that there is an increased awareness in the citizens of India and we are stepping up with each electoral process. In an amicable and light environment, the audience enjoyed and appreciated the play. It propels the significance of casting vote that aids to the well-being of the community.
Through satire, humour, and thought-provoking dialogues, the Nukkad Natak addressed various issues related to elections, including vote-buying, political propaganda, and the consequences of choosing unworthy candidates. The performers stressed that the right to vote is not just a privilege but a responsibility, and the power to bring about change lies in the hands of the electorate.
The event was highly appreciated by the audience, which included students, scholars, faculty members and other staff members for its relevance and strong social message. The performance concluded with an appeal to the public to participate in the democratic process by voting in an informed and conscientious manner.
The event was coordinated by faculties – Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Aarushi Ballwria, Dr. Shivali and Dr. Disha; and a team of B.A.B.Ed. Students, Jagriti, Rasmi, Tahira, Koyanika, Deendayal, Mrutyunjay, Eklavya, Talib and Nayaar.
